From seeds to solutions!
Join us for workshops, celebrate forests, and meet our sloth companion!
Dear Morfollower,
Leading reforestation projects means tackling challenges and finding solutions—and the best solutions often come from collaboration! That’s why we regularly organize workshops with our customers and partners. These sessions bring together small groups of 20 participants, creating a space where they can openly share best practices, discuss challenges, and find solutions together.
In this edition of our newsletter, discover two workshops we’re hosting this month:
🌱 Funding and land acquisition challenges for ARR projects – A session for carbon project developers in Latin America, featuring Paulo and Natalie from the Symbiosis Coalition.
🌿 Choosing the right restoration indicators – A workshop designed for environmental teams in Brazilian companies to define the most relevant success metrics.
As always, we’re also sharing a selection of insightful articles curated by our team on our internal messaging platform.
Let’s grow!

🌬️ 1st workshop for project developers in LATAM
On Tuesday, March 18, our carbon team is hosting a 2-hour online workshop for ARR project developers in Latin America. This session will focus on two critical challenges: land security and project funding.
We’ll be joined by Paulo Quadri and Natalie Urban from the Symbiosis Coalition, who are working to better understand the challenges developers face in the field and will share insights from their recent analysis of over 220 ARR projects.
👷 5th session on degraded land recovery
Two days later, on March 20, we’ll focus on a key challenge: choosing the right indicators for restoration.
Restoration projects require clear success indicators, but priorities often differ across teams. Which metrics should be prioritized and shared between environmental teams, sustainability departments, and site managers? This workshop is open to managers and environmental team leaders from industries such as pulp & paper, cellulose, mining, and energy.

🌳 March 21st is the International Day of Forests – Let’s make it count!
This year, $700 billion USD will be spent on advertising. Coincidentally, that’s the exact amount needed to meet global biodiversity goals by 2030, according to a study by the Paulson Institute, The Nature Conservancy, and the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability. Yet today, only $158 billion is allocated—just a fraction of what’s needed.
To highlight this contrast, our team created five eye-catching fake ads, imagining a future where nature gets the investment it deserves.

If you believe science isn’t a hoax:
Brazilian researchers from ESALQ, UNESP, and the University of Maryland studied 30 watersheds in the Paraíba do Sul Valley (SP), where pastureland dominates the landscape. They found that forest restoration improves water quality and enhances stream habitats.
A 20-year study found that trees have water memory. The water they receive throughout their lives influences how they cope with future droughts.
A study analyzing 1,207 tree species across 271 degraded forest areas in the Amazon and Atlantic Forest found that large, dense-wooded trees with big seeds are disappearing. In their place, fast-growing, soft-wooded species are taking over—partly due to declining animal populations essential for seed dispersal.
Contrary to previous beliefs, tree migration between forests didn’t only occur during humid periods. A study in the Amazon and Atlantic Forest shows that species dispersal has been happening continuously over time, facilitated by river corridors.

🦥 This month’s companion…
Spotted on the way to the field in French Guiana by Ronan, our Reforestation project manager, this sloth seemed completely unbothered by our presence. Hey you!
